how do i make my banner a direct link ?

can anyone tell me how i can make my banner a direct link to my site ? i have put my banner as a signature on my profile on a large site so whenever i make a post it advertises my site......at the moment i have a small banner of my site plus the site address link above it, how can i make it so i dont need them both and so someone can just click the banner and it takes therm to my site?

where to place the links

I would use something like http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload
as you see they provide the image tag code. but you can always place the direct link to the image within you tags and it should still work.
