About update: Automatic membership in a group.

Ask: if the member count in a group is limited to 125 (correct me if wrong), is it possible to use this option for the forums that have many members?
E.g. our forum for now has about 9000 members and I would love to use this update.

No I think you got things a little bit wrong.

these are groups, you can have a maximum of 125 groups... how many members inside a group is unlimited!

so you can have 9000 members in group 1 and 2 million in group 2 ...
there won't be problems, you'll be able to use the auto groups.

if you want to make more than 125 groups (which I don't see why? do you really have over 125 members with different permissions on the board?)
you can't have more than 125 groups...
but how many members in a group is unlimited.
