How can I add some background music?
Hi,
I want to put some background music on my forum. The background music should also work with Firefox. I have tried many times - but without luck.
I know how to insert the HTMl-code on my forum. I just can't find a code that is working. I do also have one more question: Where can I upload the music to?
I will be looking forward to hear from you...
Kind regards,
WarReactor

Re: How can I add some background music?
your best bet would be to use something like Mix pod or playlist.
With mix pod they have a lot of different options to what type of style you want the play list to look like. But adding the songs you have to search them on there site and add them from there.
Then playlist i think you can upload your own songs. but they do not have a big choice on the different styles of music players. however i have changed the size of them befor to fit in a widget.
Then what ever you use you can place in a template if using phpbb2 or punn versions. or you can place in a widget or your homepage announcement to show up on all the pages.
here is one that i have made with play list. i have it set to auto and random play with 200 hundred songs. but heres the twist. i re-sized the player to zero and now it's invisible. It is in the first post and the code is below.Don't mind the 1's in the post that's just there to give the post a Lil space.
http://evolymrobynb.forumotion.net/nhl-schedules-f1/invisible-music-player-t7.htm#8
So it dose not have to be invisible that is just what i did.And if i where to place the code in a template, widget or homepage announcement then it would play on all pages.I dint want to place it there because you could never tell where i have it for me to explain.
anyway hope that helps a Lil. if you need help resizing for a widget or getting the play invisible just come back after you create a play list.
oh i am not sure if the mix pod can be re-sized i have not tried it yet but if you can re-size one thing you should be able to re-size another

Re: How can I add some background music?
Thank you for the answers so far...
Can I then replace "bgsound.mp3" with a webadress, where I have uploaded the music? Or how does that work?
I have tried your suggestion, but it doesn't work for me. I can resize it, but I can't add songs... How can I do that?
How can I upload the music to my forum if I use this method? If I for example use this code:
- Code:
<body>
<p>Background Music</p>
<embed src="bgsound.mp3" autostart="true">
</body>
Can I then replace "bgsound.mp3" with a webadress, where I have uploaded the music? Or how does that work?

you have to create a free account. Then you create a playlist and add what ever songs you want to it. or if you can find a radio station you like i have a code to where you can put live radio.
let me test somthing for the code above you want to use to.

Re: How can I add some background music?
see the thing with the code above. it's almost impossible to find somewhere to upload the song to put in the code. there used to be snap file that was for free. but then they start charging and now i dont even think it's around anymore?
then there is fileden.. but they dont give you squat for storage unless you get a premium account. then there musicuploader.org
sure that works.. but your going to here an add in there or get a information bar pop up every time..
so play list is the way to go. you can add your music to it and place where you want. you can even have a pop out code so it will play continuously with out getting cut off or starting over when members are browsing./
or like i said you can even find a good radio station you like.
i have radio over here.
http://fmpreboard.forumotion.com/index.htm
so if you can find a station you like post it and i'll put the code together for you

Re: How can I add some background music?
what are you trying to do add the songs to the code on my test forum?
that wont work. the code on my test forum is the play list code they provide you with after you create an account and a play-list..
you have to go over here. http://www.playlist.com/ click on join now to create your free account. IT'S FREE. then after that you can start creating your play-list.
OR you can go with mixpod. http://www.mixpod.com/
it's basically the same thing.you have to create a free account. but mix pod you can only search for the song to add. you can not upload to that play list.
see i might have confused with with the whole invisable code thing.. lol sorry. heres what a playlist looks likeat the bottom of this page.
http://freeforummakers.forumotion.com/
then here is one of the players from mix pod.but this is only one song added.aslo at the bottom of this page. Please do not ask me about the arcade. thats a whole other thing... lol
http://www.iwebbuddy.com/Casino-Classics-h6.htm
so hopefully that will help now as far as far as where to place the code that depends where you want it,how big it's going to be and what version you are using.

If I use Mixpod, I get this code:

ok well it's working. if the song dose not add to it you have to find another version that will by searching on mix pod.anyway you have the one song.
ok so here is the code without all the stuff on the bottom.

And here is the code to make it invisible

oh boy... lol
OK if you are using phpbb2 or punbb versions you can place it in the template
(overall header top of the page)
or (overall footer bottom of the page)
if you only want it to play on the homepage. then homepage message Generalities would be the best place.
Now if your not using phpbb2 or punnbb versions and you want it to play on every page. then you can either add it to a widget and show widgets through the whole forum. or you can place it in the scrolling announcement to have it on every page.
be sure if you put in in the scrolling announcement that you do not have the scroll feature enabled and that you have it set to show on all pages.

Re: How can I add some background music?
Your code to make it invisible doesn't work...
But if I one day want to change the song, what should I then do?
I also having trouble to get the player in a widget - the widget won't show at the forum.

Re: How can I add some background music?
Kirk, i used your instructions and it's brilliant!! thank you so much. However, i did run into one problem. the playlist music player cannot be heard by members of my forum who live outside the states and Canada.
I posted a question about it on their support forum..the response:
Again, thank you for your very clear instructions.

The record labels have seen fit not to allow their music to be streamed outside the U.S. and Canada.
