Solved Password protection to some forums

Post by dogforums4everyone December 22nd 2009, 12:12 pm

Can you protect certain catagories on your forum with a password for those that only have that password can enter I have been searching on my admin panel and have failed to see where we could do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Louise

you can do it through permissions where only permitted members can see that particular category or forum.

No you can not pass protect forums.the only way would be to what zoids has said or you can place members in a group or hidden group to allow them access to where other groups or members may not.

? transfer this topic ? you dont when it's solved i will just lock the thread then after a wile the global mods will move it to the trash.

but to make a hidden group is the same way as making a regular group you just have to create it then select the option hidden.. after that you will have to add any members you wish to permit to the group or have it set auto for the members to be added.

Remember after creating the group you will then have to go through your forums permissions and set them for the group how you see fit. also be sure to do this for any new forums you may create.

lol what do you mean now what.. i have explained above.
you will have to add any members you wish to the group then set the forums permissions for any permissions you want to set..

if you are creating a new forum and you only want that group to have access. then create the forums and only grant that group and staff access to the forums.
it's the same way as setting everthing else.. so i am not sure what you are asking?
