You cannot get a copy of the database.

Is there a reason for that? Not being smart/defiant, but wondering why.

Yes, you own the database. Even though it's created under a Open Source GNU Public License via phpBB, but that's irrelevant.
So you can let us export, you just choose not to?

Re: Forum Nation PHPBB3 DB Export
Well yeah, I know it's not your choice specifically
But that juridical posting talks nothing about policy. It's simply stating that forumnation owns the hard drives and data that is kept on them. That in itself is arguable, as phpBB forums are stored on their servers, and under no circumstances can a company own or profit from them directly. Again, irrelevant to my question at hand.
Basically that link just says it's their virtual property, it doesn't state any policies regarding to the release of any database information.

I understand that, but that doesn't answer the question:
Why can we not export the database? And let me clarify, I'm not talking the ENTIRE database, just the users and forum postings. The same information that would normally be exported from a phpBB forum.

Because you cannot. No free forums provide database backup. I know a few which provide the database at a certain cost.
This feature has been suggested on forumotion that database backups be allowed at a certain cost, but its not yet been accepted.
If you have anymore questions, PM Typlo.

I don't think we are on the same page. Yes you can export the database. Any database can be exported.
Forumotion doesn't give users the option, but they do not say why they won't.

Is he a paid employee of Forumotion?

So you don't know why they won't allow it?
Again, not trying to come off as wise crack
Just seems so trivial

They just don't want to give it to anyone. They own their information so they will keep it. PM Typlo about database. I will lock this topic as there is no more information that needs to be added.
