Shifting Posts in forum

Is there anyway to shift posts inside a forum.. from a thread to another?

Use the split this topic icon, then 'park' the posts you want to move somewhere, I use the basket. Then use the 'merge' button to add into the other thread.
Perhaps there is any easier way but I haven't found it & this works for me.

I am new to forum administration. I need to move a topic and I can't figure out how to do it. Where is this "Split this topic" icon. I can't find it.

Your mod tools are at the bottom of each thread, as admin you will need to familiarise yourself with them asap.



Here is a screen shot but the one circled is not the split this topic icon, that is the one to move posts. I couldn't be bothered to re-make it. The one you need, is the one second from the left that looks this: <>

Use your mouse to hover your arrow over them to see what they all do.

I don't have that, but I have just discovered that if I click on the link "You can moderate this forum" I can do it there. Thank you for your reply. How do I get the tool bar you posted a picture of?

Aren't they underneath the You can moderate this forum, at the bottom left, in the footer? I thought they came as standard, so unfortunately I can't help you help you with this. If you really don't have them, you will have to wait for someone else to help with this, sorry.

I suspect you have a different forum version to me, I am on php BB2 and mine is the next thing up from the Administration Panel, it's in the footer, under each actual thread. I can't actually tell where your forum footer starts in your shot.

I'm using php bb3 so that probably explains it. Can I switch to bb2 without losing everything and starting all over?

I wouldn't downgrade your forum, I am sure it's easily fixable, just beyond my expertise.

Yes, I will keep looking, I can delete, move, lock and unlock a topic, I just have not figured out how to split a topic. Oh well, moving a topic works for me now.

Why don't you start your own thread with a clear topic title, stating that you don't have the clickable mod tool icons, & also that you can't find the link for splitting a topic at all. Don't forget to state what version forum you are using, I will keep my nose out and you will probably get more replies that way.
