Portal in Homepage Empty Portal in Homepage

I have seen in other forum hosting sites that people have a certain block of their portal in their homepage. By this I also mean like a block or something that has news and events and an announcement. Would I be able to do that at all?

And a second question, how do I make the text scroll down in the portal. I have seen it done, Ok thanks in advance

Admin Panel => Modules => Portal & Calendar => Portal Structure
Here you can add personalized blocks as well as default blocks Wink

One of the default blocks is a news block which has the news scroll upwards Wink
