Problems adding more smilies

I am having problems adding more smilies to forum. Have only the default now.
Since I have no “Smilie Code” or “Smilie Emotion”, I have the .gif images, that I would like to install, saved on my computer for uploading it to my forum. They are located in......C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\downloads\Smilies

When I try to upload to the forum I get this message...
Error
The smilie code must have a minimum of 2 caracters
Click here to return to Smilies Administration

I can not find any information on how to get around this problem. I would appreciate help.

to add a smilie, you need to have some code to go with it in order for t to work.
For example, if you use the code

here on the support forum, you will get the image:

You cannot have a smilie without a 'smilie code'
Just upload it via the upload button, add the code you desire for it & some text if you wish so, then save it

What I did not realize was that I could assign or make up any code as long as it was not already used.
