I was told by a friend who has a forum that she can WATCH who is ON-LINE on her forum and what they are doing, is this right, and can you tell me how I can access this feature please..

Can you describe this a bit more?

You can always see where they are by:

Admin panel
Administration
Statistics


Or by simply clicking on the words: "Who is online ?" in the who is on line box
