upgrading to PHPbb3

Hi, I'm just setting up a new forum. Set it up in September and still under construction, I believe it's still PHP v2 and understand there's a version 3 available. My questions are: how can you check what version you've got? and how do we upgrade? Many thanks in advance.

well i found the answer in script code problems... not that i know what they are but the answer was there and I've successfully upgraded.
