Who is this guest viewing?
I had a guest shown as viewing the site, but I made the site private, so I know that a guest couldn't be in the forum, BUT this guest viewing status kept showing for a very long period of time.
I personally like a forum where you can view people, their ips, etc... to see who is where on the forum, and what is going on.
I don't believe there are any logs in the forum Admin panel are there, I didn't see any, and phpbb has a log section.

Somebody recently made a suggestion to have an IP record of all guests, and members.

When I was an administrator for a Vbulletin forums, checking the ip of guests sometimes shows up as a Google spider or yahoo slurp.
Very likely it just one of those spiders/bots doing some index work, especially if you submitted your url to a search engine or that one of your users put a link somewhere else out there leading to your forums and a spider got hold of it.

you can the IPs of the guests who are currently connected to the forum.
in your admin panel > misc > board statistics
You'll see what section they are viewing, at what time they connected, and the IP.

Re: Who is this guest viewing?
This is like Korinth answer. Your guest could be a google or yahoo bot. They are perfectly harmless and actually help you make your site popular. If you google or Yahoo search Youtube you find links to all these Youtube pages, but it wasn't always like that. The user doesn't request Google to put their site up, a google bot goes onto the site and gets information on all the pages. I have created a Role Playing site which was never on google when I search for it, later on the google bots stored their information and I could search for it and find it. A member on my site could google their username and it will show information about that user on my site.
Does this make sense?
