Post by directd December 14th 2007, 2:33 pm

I dont have a security code in the register of my forum(that code that you need to enter like a number or something)

my friend told me that if i dont have it on my site people who hate me can screw the site up realy easily with a program or somethign that register a bilion times in one second.. some sort of a macro something..

so if there a way to put the security code in the register?

or mayeb other way to make it impossible to screw me like that?

thx

You don't have a security code but don't worry because nothing will happen to your forum. Security is very good at Forumotion and even if something could happen the databases of all the forums are saved daily.

and another thing about your security.. just so you know every forum have there bugs and my forum(your forums) also have them.. and i got hacked to it allrdy.. and now i am allso looking for a way to make it more secure..
if you know somethign about it pleasse tell me..

You cannot be hacked, the only way a person can get in your forum admin is by cracking your password, if you have a strong enough one this will not happen. You also need to make sure you have a strong email password for the email that you registered your forum to, if you have lost password recovery set for admin.

Spam bots is a huge internet problem and unfortunately there is not much more that can be done than turning on account activation by members as these spam bots nearly always have bocus email accounts.

These forms can't be hacked Wink

Bots CAN read image codes now, so those won't help
We have a unique system of protection which asks you confirm your password on the next window. The reason why we use a unique system is so as more bots don't pass.

Now ofcourse with time, bots will be reprogrammed to pass these systems, so no matter what, you'll always receive a few :/

P.S: It's already much better then when on the average forum there where 5-7 bots registering per day

@Caihlem
These forms can't be hacked
PhpBB always have a bugs and exploits which get the MD5 hash of the admin.

But like zinex say if the admin have a strong pass this will not happen. And aslo we have (i think) 5 login limit.

BTW Read this
