Linking Off-Site Avatars
Hello,
I had a problem the other day with an avatar I wanted to use but couldn't due to the way the link was.
Here is the link to the other thread I posted: https://help.forumotion.com/t96487-external-avatar-links
I have also included the original message in the spoiler below.
I now have a link which comes from the exact same website but does end in a .png format.
The link is "http://services.runescape.com/m=avatar-rs/Hans/chat.png"
When I go to the profile section on the forums that I run and try to add this link as my off-site avatar. It comes up with a message saying:
I was wondering if anyone could offer some assistance with this problem.
Thanks,
Van

Hello
I have come across a problem recently while improving the forums that I run. I also checked the FAQ on here before I posted this thread to make sure that my question had not already been answered.
The problem I have is that some of the members wish to use external avatar links that doesn't end in the file format. For example: "http://services.runescape.com/m=avatar-rs/avatar.png?id=12153909". Their reason for wanting to use this is that it will automatically update to match the one shown on the other website.
Does anyone know if there is a way to enable these links to be used?
I'm fairly confident with HTML and CSS in case any of the templates need to be adjusted as a solution.
Help and advise on how to solve this problem is much appreciated.
Thank you

The URL of the remote avatar is not valid

Re: Linking Off-Site Avatars
That doesn't do what I'm trying to get it to do. Let me try explain better.
Runescape is a game. They have their own forums which are limited to what you can talk about. And you can create your own avatar to display on their forums and other functions of their website.
If I updated my avatar on their website, it would automatically overwrite the existing image as each character can only have 1 avatar at a time.
This is an example of a players avatar.

The whole point of me wanting to use these links on the forums I run here on Forumotion is that they will automatically update to the same image that is being used on Runescape's forum.
I'm not stupid. I know how to upload images to file hosting websites, If I wanted to do it that way I would have already done it without asking.
What I'm asking is, is there any way I can use the link I have provided so that it will automatically update rather than me having to upload a brand new picture every time I change my avatar on Runescape's forum?

Re: Linking Off-Site Avatars
You could add it as a suggestion in the Polls suggestion section with a Poll
as the present format doesn't allow Avatar rotating
