Solved Guests and Chatbox v2.0

Post by AaronW 16.02.12 0:25

Ive been implementing Chatbox 2.0 in my forum as a widget that appears in the corner of the forum.

However, I would like to know if it is possible to allow the chatbox to be used by guests?

before using chatbox 2.0 I couldn't get the rights for guests to use the chatbox. I thought I could do that with 2.0, but when I test this (be logging out and trying to use the chatbox as a guest) I get the message "you must be connected/registered to use the chatbox".

So to summarize, is there a way to allow guests to enter the chatbox without registering on my forum?

the link to my forum is as follows:

Thank you

But... they CAN see the chatbox. This isn't the original chatbox, this is the v2.0 that I found on these support forums. I've TESTED this by logging out and visiting my own site as a guest, on an entirely different computer. I was able to see the chatbox.

So again, is there ANYWAY at all to allow guests to use the chatbox. And if not, Why?

That is the most useless limitation I've ever heard of being placed on a chatbox... How can guests come to a forum and ask the staff or administrators of a form for help in an easy and efficient manner if they can't access a chatbox? That, in my opinion is one of the main reasons for even implementing a chatbox in the first place.

That is your specific definition of a chatbox, not mine. Again I find this completely ridiculous, as the chatbox should very well function as a tool that accomplishes both of our views on what is 'should' be. Regardless, I doubt any people running Forumotion are ever going to introduce that option, because once again this free forum hosting seems to be one of, if not THE most [Language] restrictive one I've ever come across, not to mention that I rarely ever get an acceptable answer in these help forums. Posting issues here only ever leads me to believe that choosing forumotion was a bad choice.

So.. Solved.
