Go to admin panel=>General=>Homepage=>Configuration Scroll down the page and look for "Homepage message" option and you can add your message in the "Message content" box.

You can make a custom block in the portal and ask members to register.

Not really..Go here and generate a logo..copy code supplied after clicking "generate". Then go to your admin panel and click the modules tab. in the Portal & calendar block, click "Portal Structure". From there scroll down a bit to where it says "create custom block" and click that. Now where it says "name of the block" put a name. ie Flash Banner. Ok now, seeing as its flash you probably dont want it in a block(It does look better in the header not being a block)..so you want to click no where it says "use a table type". You can just leave the block title blank as your not using one. Now paste your code in the html box provided, and underneath, click "Save". You should now see this "Portal configuration successfully updated". Now click this "Click here to return to the modules management." Scroll down to this block "Addition/deletion of personal modules". You should see 2 dropdown menus..In the "Modules" dropdown you should see the name of your block, in this instance "Flash banner"..click it. The "Location" dropdown is where you want your module to show, in this case header. Click on "Add the Module", and your done. Very good
