member barred, but not by me
I have a member who says he keeps getting a message saying he has been barred, but he has not been barred by me. the IP has not been barred, the username has not been barred and his email has not been barred.
do forumotion ever bar members without informing the administrators of the site?

Re: member barred, but not by me
Hi,
What's the error he's getting?
No, forumotion does not bar, or 'ban' anyone, there's a script for preventing certain usernames from registering, or logging in though.
Admin panel >> General > Security > Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames.
This is the setting, if you deactivate it, things may change.

thanks, I did not think that it was something that you would do, however as I knew it was not me I wanted to check
he says he gets
re-directed taken too:
onlineguardian.net/certify.php?url=inaflap.forumotion.co.uk
he also said there was a confirmation code required but it was unreadable.
I do not know what that means.
however he has been posting for some months and it only just started happening a couple of days ago and the spam username option has been on all the time.
I have found a workaround by adding a full stop to his username but am at a loss as to why it would have happened in the first place.

No issues, that's an easy fix
First, get him to retry the capatcha, if he's successful, thats awesome!
If not, don't worry, send our Pro-Team member, Leeloo (link on right) a link to this topic and the username that's being prevented from logging in. Please note she'll come online in aprox 6 Hours (she's in France), and may not respond for a little while, as she's quite busy on Mondays, as you'd appreciate after being out of the office for the weekend

It's the suspicious activities alert going off for this member.
So he has to put the capatcha code in to show he is human and will have accesses to the board again.
However if he cant read the capatcha, or it is still not allowing him in, then we will have to pass it on to leeloo like Darren has said above.
