Did anyone notice post searches won't go past the first page?

I have tried to look up a few items and even thought my search may yield 200 or 300 posts, only the first page will show. As soon as I hit 'next' or 'page 2', I get a message similar to 'no posts match your search'.
A glitch with search???

Sorry if it was already reported. I don't log in here very often.
My apologies.

Also sorry about replying before 24 hours..... Maybe I need to read the rules again. I was also referring to THIS forum. It was on this one that I was searching, not my own forum.

Thanks Joph.
It's an issue on all forums, of all languages, inclusive of this English support forum
I was unable to find anything about it, sorry.
However, being that Joph has passed it up, I would think Leeloo, our Pro-Admin will be dropping by sometime soon

This bug doesn't appear to be affecting my website yet, but some members at my website are having issues with random 401 errors while using search, but can view those same pages with no issues when they enter the topic through the forums or blogs.

Hi Formicida,
The Developers are more then aware of the issue, and are looking into a correction. I'm sure as soon as Leeloo has any information about the bug, she will alter us as soon as she can

Thanks again for answering....sorry to respond late. I really hope this gets fixed soon, the solution should be rather simple as far as I can tell and it worked fine before!

Yes you both are correct, I was using the simple search, which didn't have a problem.
The devs are saying the patch is in BETA, and should be released shortly; I believe a period of time, could be this month, but the devs never give a time indication -- Hence, a guess

Thank you to the support staff for fixing this problem. However, in doing so, you've created another problem in the advanced search options. The new issue that has arisen is also very important to my forum. Previously in the advanced search options, you could select a wildcard (*) for search by author, then select "search previous" 1 day, 2 days, 7 days etc to get a listing of posts from those time periods by all users, now it's not working.
Can you PLEASE FIX THIS? Why does it seems that every time one problem is fixed, it creates another. Not to mention the original search problem was never a problem in the first place, it only stopped working a few months ago.

Formicida, can you please clear the cache of your browser?
I don't have this on my end, when I use the wildcard it works perfectly fine on the support forum.

It's not a cache issue, but I cleared it anyway to be sure. I don't know how the search options I'm mentioning are working for you, because they are not working for me, even here.

I had to clear my cache to understand, guess I haven't done it for a while lol.
For me it's a hit and miss, every 2nd result was a thread that I had posted in (using myself as an example) but ever first or third post was a thread I hadn't posted in.
Ill give leeloo some time to see the topic before I alert her.

Hello,
It seems to work fine on my side...
You said you found some threads where you haven't posted in ?

Thats correct Leeloo,
For example, I search the term "banned" with the author to be for example, me, "darren1" and every result is is correct with me posing in it, with the 'search previous' at any interval
However if you put a wild card in it so its now "darre*" it returns with every second result as me posted in it, with the 'search previous' at any interval.

Hi Darren and LeeLoo,
I don't think either of you understand what I mean. Here's a screen capture of the search fields that need to be filed in, only. The first is "By Author"...before you would enter an asterisk there for all members and the only other search field that was entered was the "search Previous" field. You could select 1 day, 7 days, 2 weeks and up to a year etc. These search methods would bring up listing of all members posts in all forums for the time periods selected.
See this example:

Here's another example of the url string from here of how it used to work and has worked for years (before today):
https://help.forumotion.com/search.forum?search_keywords=&search_author=*&search_time=1
Of course this link isn't working now, but it used to work this way until today.

Hi guys, just adding that we're having the exact same problem using * wildcards to do a advanced search on our site.
our string was:
to get the last weeks worth of posts, now it's just sending you to the search page and giving no results.
Happy hunting!
our string was:
- Code:
http://www.wizardswb.com/search.forum?search_keywords=&search_author=*&search_time=7
to get the last weeks worth of posts, now it's just sending you to the search page and giving no results.
Happy hunting!

I've been having problems all day too with my custom search function that I had been using up till now to display a page of "recent posts"...
I didn't know about this thread and so statred a new thread looking for help with this problem after spending all day trying to fix it myself...
https://help.forumotion.com/t109539-help-with-search-function-problem#717245
I hope they get it sorted soon as it's not just the search/ wildcard problem, whatever is going on has stopped links in my custom music player working as well...

I am having the same issue. I really need the * wildcard to be fixed as this is how alol my forum members check the last 24 hours posts via a link I created and added to the nav bar.

The wildcard search is also how we most often interact with the forum. I run a roleplaying game and that is how I can keep track of active RP topics and determine which ones I need to respond to as Storyteller. I do hope this is fixed soon.

Hello,
OK thanks for the further informations.
The technicians have disable this possibility which causes too much problems with the servers.
Now, you need to fill at least the username or the keyword to send your search request. It won't work with the wildcards.
Thank you !

Well thanks for nothing...
So that means for others and myself the layout and working of our forums are now ruined because the techs decided to change things...
Please put it back to the way it was if you value your members as this a very shoddy way to treat us, especially when there was no announcement made beforehand that such a destructive change to some of our forums was going to be made...
