Guest Viewing Restricted Area of Forum
This is not really what you might call 'a problem' but I am curious to how it's possible.
The last few days a Guest has been viewing an area of the forum that is not viewable except for the Admins.
I've double and triple checked the permissions and none of the items are checked which should keep it off-limits to members and guests.
The IP Address that has been accessing this area does not seem to match up with any of our regular members.
Can a Bot bypass forum topic restrictions ? I personally believe so.
If this continues I may have to delete that forum category/topic. I haven't up till this post because it houses a large number of posts and wanted to save it mainly for post count value.

Re: Guest Viewing Restricted Area of Forum
Hi, this is impossible. If you have the permissions correctly set then you should have no worries. It may say that they're viewing a restricted area on the forum, but in essence all they can see is the 'Log in or register' screen.
Re: Guest Viewing Restricted Area of Forum
Its not possible for bots to make any modifications to permissions or bypass permissions.
Just log out of your forum and view it as a guest. If you can't see the forum you mention, then other guests can't either.

Re: Guest Viewing Restricted Area of Forum
The permissions are set correctly. I have logged out and viewed as a guest when looking for solutions and can only view the areas that I've allowed.
At current I've changed most of the forums to members only until I discover what's up.
All I know is the Admin panel shows someone viewing the area in question.

Re: Guest Viewing Restricted Area of Forum
There's nothing to worry about this, since this is a possible bug, a spider bot indexing the forum, or a litigation staff(hmmm maybe) viewing your forum. No harm's done when this happensHello,
Some of the guests might just be considered spiders(if that's what they call it) indexing your forum and placing some information on search engines.
If they are in case a litigation staff(workers on FM company who's in charged of Banning and taking reports of forums), you don't to worry as long as you follow our TOS:
