Solved Header & footer shrinks when viewed on Safari mobile

Post by weheartcharice June 20th 2012, 2:23 am

Hi! It seems the header & footer on our forum shrink when viewed as "Classical Version" on mobile Safari (iPhone/iPad). This only happens on the home/portal page while the rest of the pages like the forum itself are fine. I tried searching on the web for a solutions and tried the suggested html settings here, but still no luck:

http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/appleapplications/reference/safariwebcontent/usingtheviewport/usingtheviewport.html

Can anybody help? Thanks!

It seems the header & footer on our home/portal page also shrink when using Opera mini app. If anybody can help us with a fix, it would be greatly appreciated. Smile

Hi, this is probably due to the mobile device itself. The forum isn't optimised for mobile viewing so perhaps that is the reason why.

Thanks @Base!

What I don't understand is why it's just getting messed up in the portal page when it's the same header/footer throughout the entire website. We also had this issue when our forum was phpbb3. And also, I browsed other forumotion websites and they don't seem to have the same problem. Sad

I've just checked your forum on my iPhone and it does appear to shrink, yes. On your portal, there are widget columns both on the left and the right. With the forum index, there is only one widget column on the right.

With two widget columns, it shrinks the header and footer for some strange reason. I don't know why it's doing that or how to fix it. You shouldn't worry too much about it if it's not causing that much of a problem. Smile

Not really a problem. Just a small annoyance. Smile

Thanks! I'll go ahead and mark this as solved. Will still keep a lookout if somehow a solution is found.
