Topic icons

Well I have noticed this slight issue with topic icons.

I added some CSS to make them appear in the middle of the forum. However they sometimes go through text making it look bad.

If want the icon on the right-hand side of the topic title and you don't want text running over the icon the only thing you can do is limit the title length of topic titles. However there might be a way to make the icon sit on top of the text but that would not look good either, that would just be reversing the same problem.

To change the topics title length minimum and maximum values:

Go to: AP>>General>>Configuration>>

On that page scroll down where you see "Topics title length" and set your values there and "save" your settings.

Your text is to long + you can move the icon more to the right.

You don't want to go too far to the right or the possible new page numbers that are created will run into the icon as well.

He will have to test it on a page that has at least 16 pages to get the maximum width the page numbers will stretch. That will depend on how many posts per topic page he has set before it creates a new page. It stretches to max 5 page link boxes. So actually, where it is right now is as far right as you dare go or else it will run into the page numbers should they reach 5 boxes.

What cap would you suggest on the text for a title?

You're looking at 45 or 50 characters max. It will depend on the width of your icons.

Another alternative would be to make your topic sections wider and align the icons under or over the topic title. Not sure how that would look but there really isn't much else you can consider.

I don't have topic icons for this very reason. They don't in my opinion look good on the default left side either because I have special icons for showing "new posts" in the topics, so topic icons just get in the way and really serve no purpose on my forum. Nothing is "solved" or "In progress".
