Dear members of Forumotion,

I've been lurking around for a while, almost daily I have some question or problem with my forum, I would come here and search and always find an answer. But this time, I don't know, I can't seem to find a relevant topic.

In almost every forum I've been to, there is a way to link directly to a post. For example, in this forum, if you click at any post title it's actually a link to that post. This is not the case in my forum, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how to do this. Or if it is even possible.

Where did you see the link? Every post on this forum or your forum will have such a url.

not sure how that works but will try to see ifthere is a setting for it or somthing? i am sure there is a easy way to get it..

Lol thats just the tile of the topic, they do not click anywhere, if you look at your screenshot, yours just says subject>with the topic title then time when it was posted.
it looks a little different becuase of the theme/skin you are useing thats all.

i was thinking it was going to click to all sankets post or somthing at first, thats why i got mixed up on what you was saying.. but yeah they do not click anywhere becuse it is the title of the topic we are in

Ok i see what you was saying ,that it changes the link for persons post.
It dont matter what link you use to somones post, it is still going to go to the top of the page /fisrt comment of what everpage it may be on. so you can jusst use the link in your address bar..

Like say you have a thread with 6 pages, it wont matter what post you link you use it is still only going to take you to the top of the page from which the link resides from not directly to a persons reply/comment/post.

If you click each one, it will take you directly to that post. You can extract the link for each post from the title/header/big bold blue text at the top of each post.

Unfortunately, I cannot find the same in my forum :S I don't know if it's connected to a setting, or the theme simply doesn't allow it.

On your forum, how you tried clicking the subject area?

Yes, good sir, I have. On my forum, it is merely text. While here it has a link in it. I've looked around in the admin panel, but I can't figure for the life of me how to make the titles have the links in them :S

Yes its a simple "anchor" link. Each post has an anchor in it, and a link which points to that anchor.

If your using a theme off of hitskin it may be that the author has removed it, in which case you'll need to look at the default viewtopic_body template, get whats needed and then add it back.

It may be the case that, because phpbb2 is old, useless and worthless that it was never even included in the forum software, in which case it can still be added in the templates.

It seems to be indeed an issue related to Phpbb2. I tried previewing the forum in a phpbb3 theme, and I could see the mentioned anchors then, while many phpbb2 themes did not display it.

This issue can now be marked solved, there are many guides out there regarding templates, I know where to look for the answer now. Thank you for your help everyone.
