Solved Personal domain problems

Post by Bits N Bobs February 10th 2013, 10:20 am

I have a personal domain bought via namecheap.
I have tried all suggestions found in the FAQ and archives but still get the following error.
My forumotion link is
http://acdforum.all-up.com
Domain is
http://acdiva.com

Thank you

Error

The supplied domain name is not well configured
You have no CNAME redirecting to : acdforum.all-up.com
You have configured a A type DNS ( A type redirects to an IP address, and not to a textual domain name like the CNAME )

We can't really tell you how to configurate an extern domain name, with another registrar.

But we can try if you provide a screenshot of your Configuration Panel (from your registrar). Smile

Please try first to remove the point after the "com" in the CNAME alias.

I think I understand your issue.

First, when you filled your domain name in your Admin Panel, you did it without the "www."
The CNAME is configurated on the www so you needed it. I've fixed it.

Then, if you doesn't want to be redirected to your forum in the url bar (like you said above), try to remove the configuration "URL redirect". Smile

The problem with you adding the WWW is that for 3 years all members are and have always linked to acdiva.com

We have never used the www

Now when I type in acdiva.com it doesn't exist which means all visitors over the last 3 years will think we no longer exist.

The CNAME is configurated on the www with your registrar, there's nothing we can do on our side.

Where was the domain name before ?
