personal domain has expired
For the last 3 years my forum has had a custom domain of www.matureps3gamers.com purchased through forumotion and I want to change the url to www.matureplaystationgamers.com which one of my admins purchased through crazydomains.co.uk. The forum url of www.matureps3gamers.com has expired today and reverted back to the forumotion url of matureps3gamers.forumotion.com I have logged into our account on crazydomains.co.uk and under the dns section I have setup a forward so that the domain of www.matureplaystationgamers.com redirects to the forumotion url of matureps3gamers.forumotion.com but this doesn't seem to work. I suspect I also have to setup a forward in the admin panel of the forumotion side I've gone into admin section and gone to general/forum address and gone to personalised domain name but I can't setup the forward to the new url of www.matureplaystationgamers.com as the old url of www.matureps3gamers.com is still selected and I have no way to remove this url from the redirect option.
Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this issue as at the moment the forum is using the old forumotion url and its confusing for our users.

Re: personal domain has expired
Have you tried seeking for help on crazydomains? I can't really help since its a third party thing. Sorry.
Re: personal domain has expired
Yes, you would have to use PHP coding to do so.
You can however use JavaScript to simulate the same effects (add a new JavaScript page to your forum under Administration Panel -> Modules -> HTML & JavaScript -> JavaScript pages management -> Create a new JavaScript).
Use this code:
Replace yourforumhere.com and [yourdomainhere] with the correct addresses, I can't remember the links you posted anymore.

- Code:
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
alert("You will be redirected to our new domain [yourdomainhere] in 5 seconds.");
setTimeout(function(){
window.location = "http://yourforumhere.com";
},5000);
});

Re: personal domain has expired
The main issue is that I can't validate the new url www.matureplaystationgamers.com in my forumotion admin panel as the old url www.matureps3gamers.com is still there despite it supposedly expiring today.
Re: personal domain has expired
So does anyone know how to remove the old personalised URL in the admin control panel?
Re: personal domain has expired
http://matureps3gamers.forumotion.com/
That does not redirect to any Personal domain URL.

Re: personal domain has expired
Hi Sanket
This is what I've configured at Crazy Domains which is what the guide on Here told me to do as the screen shot below shows
I've then gone to the admin panel of my forum to configure the auto direct as the guide advises but when I go to the Personalized domain name section the old url is still there and I can't remove it as per the screenshot below
On my test forum the Personalized domain name section is how I would expect it to be as below
I suspect that the old domain is still showing as I still have the option of renewing it free of charge by forumotion as below
I appreciate being able to renew the url for free but we need to change the forum name and hence the url as the PS4 is coming out soon.
Can any of the admins help with this as I am the forum owner and creator since the forum was setup originally in May 2009. I was expecting the url change to be easier to perform as I was originally told when I asked the question HERE a few months ago.

Re: personal domain has expired
I am a little confused in respect to your problem. What do you want to do, mention it in short.

I'm trying to change the forum URL to www.matureplaystationgamers.com after the previous URL of www.matureps3gamers.com has expired I have setup the redirect on crazy domains.co.uk but can't activate the forward on my forum as the old domain is still enabled in the personalised domains section which I can't remove. See my screenshots in my previous post for more details.Sanket wrote:I am a little confused in respect to your problem. What do you want to do, mention it in short.
Re: personal domain has expired
So you basically want matureps3gamers.forumotion.com to redirect to http://www.matureplaystationgamers.com/ ?

Re: personal domain has expired
Where did you get your previous custom domain name from? Don't you need to remove the redirect from there?

Re: personal domain has expired
Forumotion gave the URL to me free of charge 2 years ago because of the volume of traffic our forum receives. So I assume forumotion setup the redirect.Sanket wrote:Where did you get your previous custom domain name from? Don't you need to remove the redirect from there?
Re: personal domain has expired
So the request now is to remove the redirect.
The custom domain you have brought from elsewhere, will be setup on your side.
