First topic message reminder :

Oh my god! I found a critical bug here!
Here I wrote a posting with several template codes for phpBB2 forums. Because I made a typing error, I edited my posting - and after sending the edited posting, some little parts of the HTML-Code are executed - although HTML is deactivated here! Exclamation

The postig is totally destroyed, and the code tags which include a javscirpt, are ignored completely!
Please fix this bug! I think this is really critical!

I don't follow it, its confusing.
Tell me what exactly i have to do, to find this thing? Like take a code, post it here & edit it. Give the details. I need to replicate the problem you are mentioning.

1. I posted a template code, and two parts of this code I posted again to explain something. And one part of this code I posted not with code tags, but with quote tags.
2. I edited the posting.
3. The posting is destroyed.

For 1) If you add it with the quote tags, it will appear under quote. It won't appear as a code. If you trying to suggest something else.

2 & 3 are irrelevant because you are not explaining exactly what was edited.

And what wil appear under quote= Haven'T you check it till now? THE FORUM MESSED THIS POSTING AFTER A SMALL EDIT COMPLETELY UP! AND THAT IS THE BUG Exclamation

You are not giving any details & expect us to understand every bit of what you are saying in a flash. It can't happen. When you decide to talk calmly here in this thread, post the following.
1) The content you added to a post initially in its original format inside the code tags.
2) You edited the post : changed the word tempalte to template & reposted it again.
The result was how its appearing now in that post.

1) I don't have the posted template code anymore, because I made some little changes before posting it. At the end opf this portal_body I added a table with some subforums, but I used for this table special CSS classes, so that it fits with the style of my forumotion forum. Before i posted the code I removed the links, descriptions and titles of my fourum/subforums, unnecessary tables and the CSS classes.

But I posted not only this tempate code, I also posted parts of thsi code within quote tags and ant the end, I posted ajvascript - the only code which was not messed up Very Happy

i am going to have to read over this whole thing once again including the link you have posted to whatever tutorial that is, i don't think it is a bug i think it may be something to do with your editing.

I cannot evaluate, where I must place a code oder a quote tag, because the code is completely destroyed and jumbled
It was really hard to write this posting! For giving support it must be possible to post the content of a template!
Also, some html tags are changed to BBCodes - so you can't copy'n'paste the template into your forum! I must write the posting totally new
Note: I had to add two code tags at the begin and a the endig of the posting, because without these tags, it will be displayed incorrectly
Please report this bug to the techs

Why are you trying to use quote tags with code tags.
use code tags for codes only, if a member has to quote your post then they can do so along with your codes appearing as they should within the code tags.

and you can not add template codes in a post without them being in code tags or it will not appear.
I suggest anything that you would have to have marked out in bold to better indicate what part you are talking about, you add that separate in a traditional code tag along with your explanation.

This i will have to read. But it seems to me you are trying to incorporate quotes and code tags together, in addition of trying to modify elements of template codes by using bbcode for bold color etc... you can not do this.

If you have to specify certain elements or areas of template code then you will have to separate the parts and place them in individual code tags. Once again you can not add template codes to a post without code tags it will only show small parts of elements hat will appear.

Other then that i will go to the thread link you have posted above and see if i can make some sense out of this, but seems to me you are just doing things that are not compatible with posting in post, just stick to code tags for template codes and separate any parts you have to in separate code tags and you will not have any problems.

For some reason it seems like template codes do appear here on the support forum without being in code tags. This dose not work on my forum. if i try to post template codes to a post without being in code tags, only certain elements show and not the whole thing like it shows on this support forum.

I have never placed BBCodes in a template. The support forum changed the HTML tags to BBCodes itself, after I had sent the posting.
And the incorporate quote/code tags are produced by the support forum, because the forum messed the whole posting up, after I had sent it.

I posted code in quote tags, because I wanted to mark somethink, like this:

(this is only an example)

And the forum itself moved some quote tags into code tags or so. These tags aren't my fault!

what html tags, was auto changed to bbcode here, and were they in code tags when you posted them

Here i am thing about your are talking about posting things on your forum and you mean here, there are certain small things set up different on support forum then members forums. It has always been like that here.

take the template code for instance. you can not post template codes out side of code tags on other forumotion forums like you can here on the support forum.

so you don't even have to use quote tags here for template parts

but back to what you was saying about html tags being aromatically changed to bbcode.
what html tags are they and how are you posting them. in code tags or out of code tags.. it could be the support forum is just set that way for basic tags in case someone messed up and dint use the bbcode?

so explain that and lets test it here again

Yes, it must be a bug, because I placed all code and quote tags correctly - and after a edit (correct "tempalte" to "template") the post was messed up.

I was told from a pretty good reliable source that it's an issue with the *new* coding of the wysiwyg editor, where it changes the values of things. BUT NOT 100% On this and all will have to be passed to pro-admin/techs

For now Don't use wysiwyg editor mode and you should be fine.
I believe this is something that has been like this for a while and will send it off to the godfather to look into and send to the techs. If that is what it is? All i can do at this point is pass it on and hope the techs and or the god father can make some sense out of it all. I am not even sure how i am going to explaining it all, the whole time i thought you meant this was happening on your forum, and chances are it would do the same thing on other forums using the wysiwyg editor mode if it is indeed changing or not reading vales correctly.

The best way to set your bbcode in a post is to type out or past what your adding, then mouse-over/highlight what you want wrapped with whatever bbcode tag and click on it.

Other then that i need to read this all once again, figure out the best way to explain it all, and send it off to the godfather Smile

Also remember you do not even have to put codes from templates in quote tags for pointing parts out, you can post the parts without any tags and make it bold etc with your bbcode like i explained a couple post above.. as far as i know it will only work like this on this support forum. If you tried that in a post on your regular forum it would not work.

Yeah actually that is what it is . The techs know and have known for a while that the wysiwyg editor is not perfect and and are trying to improve it more the best they can for each updates, so for now is basically the way it is, it works OK for simple stuff but would not go to crazy with adding to much and just create post the transnational way.

Once i again i found the easiest way is to type out or past what you are posting, then go back and mouse over/highlight the parts for whatever bbcode you are adding.

like for an example if it is a sentence you want color and bold, mouse-over the sentence and click the color first, then mouse over again and click bold. it will wrap the sentence.. etc.. and so on Smile
