Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
Alright, so I'm kind of new to these forums. (In the sense that I haven't been here in ages) I searched them thoroughly several times, but couldn't a find a section for what I exactly needed.
Anyway, I used an older version of Flash and actionscript to make some interactive games and then exported them.
I've found plenty of sites that allow uploading of a variety of files, including flash based ones. The problem is that these sites are either for storage, downloading the file onto one's computer, or that they would have to go to a specific link to play the game.
What I want is to be able to place a file onto an uploading site and be able to embed it (I think that's the word) to my own site/forums. That way the game can be played on a site and or discussion forum, without members having to go to another site or downloading the game.
What file uploading site would you recommend for this? I've already tried several, but they don't allow embedding files. I would prefer for the site to be free, as I don't have enough files to make it worth paying a monthly fee.
Thanks in advance for any replies/information!

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
So, did I post this in the wrong place? I apologize if I did, but I'd really like to be able to host my flash games on the actual forum. I don't want members to have to go to a different link in order to download and then play the game.
Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
You can upload swf files to photobucket and embed them,
https://s223.photobucket.com/
If you want to give the option to download the file put the direct link to the swf file in a link like this:
Right click the link and "save as".

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
I didn't know Photobucket had that option, I thought it was only for jpegs and gifs. I logged into my old account and tried uploading a swf, but this is the error I get.
It's not that the file is too large, as it's only kb and in the two digits. Is there a certain place I have to go in order to upload a swf file?
Note: Videos are limited to 500 MB or 10 minutes in length. Supported image file types include gif, jpg, jpeg, png, and bmp.
The following files were not uploaded

No you upload the same place you would pics. As far as I know Photobucket still allows uploading of swf files, they use to allow uploading them anyway, in fact I still have several swf files uploaded there right now they are hosting.

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
Unfortunately I can't seem to find anyway to use photobucket for uploading swf files. Neither the direct link or upload from computer options work for the files.
It might have been used at one point, but they got rid of it, and kept the files of other accounts accessible still. Either that, or I'm blind and can't find it.

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
Yeah I just did some research and photobucket no longer supports uploading of swf files, but they will continue hosting the ones that are uploaded there now.
Well I would google "free swf file hosting" and try s few out.
You would place the direct link to the swf file in an embed code like this:

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
I've been doing just that, but more often then not, the free sites are only for storing the file, which can be later downloaded.
I used to have my files on a place called Fileden, but they've since merged/were bought out/or something.
Thanks for the help though!

Re: Need Help, Finding a site for uploading swf files
Yeah, you need a swf file host that allows "Remote linking" so you can play it on other servers. Photobucket was good for that.
Keep looking you're bound to find one. Try adding "remote linking" to the swf host search, and try "hot linking" as well.
Good luck
