Solved Viglink added to the forum by forumotion

Post by Kabbalien May 1st 2014, 8:02 pm

Hi. It sounds like forumotion is trapping the members by adding scam links to the forum and redirect the links into they're own affiliation with other company. "Viglinks"
When am not sign in the forum, the links showing in my forum post have (link added by viglinks) This was not stream to the forumotion members.
Disrespect to the members again !

Are you the founder of this forum?

Could it be that members are posting the links in their posts?

Is viglink not affiliated with forumotion?  This was posted by one of our mods this morning:

One thing I notice this morning that I have not seen before  is  when I was not logged in and reading my post in New England ~ May 2014, there was a hyperlink by Viglink attached to my text about an in ground garden.

This was the site that was linked:
    http://www.hayneedle.com/product/coralcoastwoodgroundgardenbed48wx48dx12hin.cfm?srccode=cii_10043468&cpncode=26-334276216-2&source=channel_intelligence_shopzilla_hayneedle

I have just chosen the option not to have underlined links for guests.

You do know that Forumotion released a new ad system last year that create links out of words on your forum.

I knew there were word links, but not how they worked specifically. Your response to the OP led me to believe that there was something else going on. If it's on the up and up, my mistake, sorry to bother you.

I have just about enough of this ! When I start my forum here on FM some years ago was advertised that the forum was free and no advertisements , now, slowly I been getting banners and links advertisement everywhere. I would say this is disrespectful to the members. Sure I would never write a good review about this forum in the media ! Can someone tell me (in Pounds) how much do we have to pay to remove the FM advertisement from the forum ! Thanks

    Hello Kabbalien,

These adverts should be optional. Go to Administration panel > general > forum > configuration

Find : Text ads activation for guests(underlined)
    Tick : No
    and save.

Yes, creating a forum is free, but they are not ad free.

    Ad Remove Amount:
Administration Panel > Misc. > Credits Management > Spend Credits
    Remove Ads

    Hi,

I cannot find an example of this issue happening on your forum, can you please provide a screenshot & a link to where is is happening?

If you are referring to the Similar Topics then it is supposed to only relate to whats in that page, of each individual topic.

Have you checked this as yet, as it sounds probable?

Hello Ange Tuteur. That did work Smile
    Hello SLGray...
Yes, creating a forum is free, but they are not ad free. wrote:

I understand FM need to pay the server costs but after advertising no Ads, they change they're mind.
Anyway, for me this topic can be closed, Thanks again to Anger for the tip.
