Solved Remove moderator highlight

Post by b8l May 6th 2014, 7:58 am

So I'm attempting to remove the highlight/coloring of moderators on the bottom of the page.

Here's my problem: I have "Show group color" unchecked in the admin panel for the moderator group. So far I have a very small forum and no regular moderators, BUT I have set up private forums for closed groups. The permissions are X Group Only for everything, and the group members are given control over the moderation according to those permissions. So these are the people showing up as moderators on the bottom of the page. However, the groups also do not have colors chosen and have the "Show group color" option unchecked.

I don't want this for obvious reasons: It displays who is a member of these private groups and forums.

Is there something else I'm missing?

Hello,

So the moderator groups is set to :
Color Group Members : No

So are their usernames still having colors on the index/legend?

Yes, that is correct. I triple checked to make sure. I also checked the box and saved, and unchecked and saved again to be sure. So the color group members option is unchecked for moderators and the closed groups, and it's still showing.

By saving that option, it should hide the moderators group and remove the color of the usernames in the group.

Can you show us a screenshot of your forum index(include the legend part).

Remove moderator highlight Stuff11

Remove moderator highlight Mods10

For the record, the mods group is listed as empty because there are no people in the actual moderators group. Its just listing people with moderator privileges as listed in the Group Administration options. I applied moderator status for certain groups to certain closed forums. Just to make it clear. Smile

Ok, so you just set moderation permission for each user and not by group?

in your group administration:
AP > Users & Groups > Group Administration:
Do you see usernames listed as groups there?
> Modify  Edit > Color group member : No
> Save

Solved Re: Remove moderator highlight

No, I gave entire groups access to moderation. For example:

A private forum dedicated to baseball that only members of the Baseball group can see, interact with, etc.

On the group administration page, I go to the Baseball group, then go to permissions, and check the box that allows the Baseball group to access moderation privileges to the baseball forum. Does that make more sense?

Then all of the members in the group suddenly show up as moderators in the status bar at the bottom. If I remove moderator privileges in the Group Administration page, they return to being unhighlited/colored and looking like normal users. Which makes sense because the code recognizes them as being or not being moderators. However, the option to not show the colors for people in the Moderator group seems to only affect the code for people actually IN that group, and not ALL the people with moderator privileges. Since there are people outside that group with moderator privileges.

I'm wondering if there's a fix for this somewhere.

Well for this, you can just set the moderators group to 'hidden' as it does the same thing by not colorizing the group, this will completely remove the color of the names in the group.

Actually I already tried that and it made no difference. Doing the same for the groups themselves, IE: the baseball group, does not make a difference either.

But again, I'm wondering if that's because they're not actually in the Moderator's group. I'm wondering if there's a discrepancy between how the options on the admin panel affect the code with regards to moderators because of that.

I found the solution, find this option:
AP > Users & Groups > User Options :
Colorize Usernames : Set it to 'yes'
> Save

This option will set the color of the name to the settings of the group you applied(either it's colored or not). Let me know if it works.
