Chatbox auto refresh not working.

My forum is having this issue where our chatbox doesn't auto refresh the messages even with auto refresh turned on, it only updates when you type something yourself and send the message or if you manually reload the chatbox. Clearing our cookies worked for a few seconds before it broke again and from what I can tell it's only affecting Google chrome, I logged in on my account on Waterfox and it's working fine there so I don't know why it's not working on chrome.

Turning archives on on Google chrome causes auto refresh to function again but this way I can't tell when someone logs in to the chat or disconnects so it's a bit annoying to have this issue and I don't know what could be causing it.

did this just start or has it been happening for awhile?

It just started yesterday, we had some major lag on the chatbox earlier last week and some earlier this week but that seems to have been due to other global issues on forumotions part.
