    In progress Domain name change

Post by ResonatingOctave March 26th 2015, 8:46 pm

I was offered a renewal for my domain name due to my forum having high traffic but when i renewed it all it did was allow me to have the same domain for another year. I want to know if there is a way to change the domain so that my url is something else.

I have tried doing AP > General > Forum Address  and did the quick update but that didnt change the url. this was after the renewal so i dont know if that could have affected it. If you can help me please let me know what im doing wrong.

You'll need to remove current domain, AP -> Misc -> Spend credits -> Domain name - Delete

But, I'm not sure whether you'll get free domain offer after you remove the current one or you'll need to purchase credits for new domain.

I am sure she will help you when she can, she is very busy, just bump it up... but there is never any need to get frustrated or demanding. Also again, you bumped it on a weekend when Buttercup was not online to see it, the volunteers can do very little if anything to help with a domain problem. Patience is key, good things come to those who wait. Have you tried sending her a PM? I am sure she will be more then happy to assist you.

    Hello,

    Sorry for the late answer.

Your domain name was renewed for free. You can ask for removing your current domain name. However, if you decide to remove it, you'll have to buy 1600 credits to get a new one.
Moreover, you should be aware that changing your domain name can be bad consequences on your SEO. Indeed, there is a risk of losing traffic. I highly recommend you to inform your members of the change (global announcement, newsletter, mass private messages...)

Your forum is very active so, I just be sure you're aware of the consequences.

I am waiting for your reply  :rose:
