On mobile, the main issue is to obtain data and I know it's really difficult. And we don't have the same campaigns because it depends on country mainly. So it's not easy to get the same banners or redirects. It's why it's necessary to get the correct information.

The priority is to stop the redirects (the situation seems better since few weeks) and we will try another mobile ad partner in the next days too.

I'm waiting a confirmation from the ad partner regarding the links you shared above.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I tried signing into my forum this morning about 9:30am (16/12/2016) and the same pop up appeared again. I tried signing in about 5 times a short while later to see if the problem went away and it had, but for how long? I can't click on the problem pop up to follow the link because it's not there at the moment, it used to show up every now and then, i didn't want it appearing for new members signing up to my forum and putting them off. I just went to my test site to check on the redirect problem which is already fixed. However, I ran into those same mobile scam banner ads I've been reporting a lot and wondering if they can fix redirects fast (the culprit ad is gone already). What is the hold up with mobile scam ads aren't they just as bad? Since it's easy to tap scam ads on mobile.
I was forced into paying for the ad removal on my main forum. As one I did not want to be blamed for Forumotion being so slow if a member fell for a scam banner ad. Someone that does not know better might believe I could deal with getting rid of them faster. Two, I could not risk un-removal permanent URL bans due to malware in those ads.

I've been using my test site to debug problems for the main site so I decided may as well check out mobile ads that would have been on the main site if I was not forced into buying ad removal.

Right now it appears Forumotion is forcing member to buy ad removal or having member risk their fourm site and posible un-remvoal ban problems.

Godfather, I just want to do an update on those ads even though most are the same exact ones I’ve been reporting in the past. Is it going to take over two months for a fix? I started posting the scam ads on November 5th on my main forum site and it is already past a month and is almost at two month now. As I said above I was forced to pay for ads removal on the main forum site and am using the test site for this stuff now but I’m sure the result are the same either way. You can use this to compare to the previous one. It seems pretty clear nothing much is being done about these scam and I found new ones too.

Seems like the two older Walmart scams, the app scam, Nintendo switch scam, and Google phone scam are not around now but I could be wrong here.

While I guess I got my hope up for nothing. Most of the scam are still around and I found another one just now. I guess I’ll just report them so you have the log and others members can see how bad the mobile scam are getting and how noting seems to be done about them. I'm thinking that those scam that are gone now was actually the companies that where being spoofed that dealt with them somehow, otherwise I think most would have be gone. Though 79% scam ads still around.

Even more scams! All the Walmart one seem gone still not much. Seems more like the companies being spoofed are dealing with this themselves. Even the Starbucks ones is already gone and I only reported that recently. The reason I’m suspecting this is it only certain ones that are disappearing if it was your the staff I would suspect the ads from two November 5th post & November 11th would all be gone. I’m still seeing a batch of those. The odd thing is a new one I reported recently also seems gone now hence I thinking it the companies being spoof that are dealing with most of the mess. Best Buy probably has not gotten word of the ad scam yet and Amazon might now know the ad scammers are at it again with Amazon gift card scams.

I’m not sure if Apple and Samsung care about scam ads related to their Smartphones. Visa does not seem to being doing anything about scams ads, for their gift cards. Seems, like ad scammers are taking advantage and making new scam ads.

I know I said I was giving up any hope and only doing this for your log and other members sake. However I wanted to make one last desperate plea. Get rid of these nasty scam banner ads it’s been months since I started reporting these icky scams. For all we know those scams could be doing some nasty/harmful stuff to your members forums/computers and I’m starting to get very suspicious of your folks behavior with this along with those ads.
I would highly consider moving again (if those scam ads are not all gone soon) but I still have yet to find another host that can handle image heavy posts and the copy/paste links come out as expected. Plus my main site has that no ad thing on it for members. Which you folks forced me into buying and I would rather waste that.

My test site is going crazy again to with mobile redirects hang on let me see if I can get a few links I’ll post in the other topic for those and those scam ads are starting to get worse they are cropping up on the test site even before I log in.

Edit: Right now I can't get it to repecalate the rederict it maybe an ad again which has yet to cycle in agan. I'll keep note and post if it does it again. One Of the redirects might have been a touch acident the smartphone but at least once I'm positive it redericted me.

Right now Forumotion is working on software updates and correcting issues with the updates.

your test site will do that you don't have have any members logging in other then your self and maybe some one else.

The popup Ad's will only popup on forums that don't get used or have no members on it.

Even if it's supposed to be happening they all come up as scam sites. Scam sites most likely result in hacks/viruses..etc, which could end up causing damage to your member's computers and information.

Caught a scam ad on my main forum site when I was not logged in and wonder if there are more. At the time I was forced into buying ad removal it was only happening when logged in so I did it for members only however now I’m thinking I should have done the full removal. If I do it now I would have to pay an extra 1000 credits. Which could be better used for something else besides being forced to pay to fully secure the site from scam ads and permeate blacklist issues. The worrisome part is with the scam ads now popping up when not logged in it means that the permeate blacklist issues is back in play, and that’s the whole reason I felt forced into buying ad removal. Here is a semi update (I saw more hence semi). A redirect bug kicked in (reported here) making it to hard to complete the scam banner update task as it keeps logging me out after each redirect and making it almost impossible to log back in. With it continuously doing that it was just making me extremely annoyed.

I sent a new demand to the ad partner yesterday. I provide direclty a link to your message because all necessary information are available here. I'm not sure they can block all these ads because some banners allow to get a 100% fill rate.

We will see to replace this partner in the next weeks. We already apply a change on desktop yesterday for UK and US members

Any update on switching mobile ad partners. As your current one for mobile seem to be a major scam supporter making you folks look like one too. I’m still seeing a handful of these scam ads and I don’t think PayPal would be happy if they knew there was a scammer impersonating PayPal. If I had more time I would be looking at other hosts again but finding one that meet my requirements is hard plus deciding if I should just put the extra credits down as a loss or wait it out. Happy to do another update if need though seem to be getting repetitive glad the image host I use has yet to complain about all the scam screenshots.

This does not look good on your end if I don’t here soon on what going on by next Thursday I will take it as a sign I made a bad choice for a host and that you do support these scam ads. I will then have to start really digging around for another host. One that has high image post count, no crazy link issues, and is not a scam banner ad supporter. It will still take me awhile to find and then I'll have to transfer everything manually. I guess I will just have to put the money I spent on the ad-block on the main site as a loss as I was NOT getting what I paid for and I could have used that money for something it would have been worth on another site, I've been reporting bad ad since November 2016 and a batch of them are that old. Seems wrong to have scam ads that old hanging about but you do.

As we have stated before, we do not support these types of ads. We report the ads to our ad provider to be taken down and in some cases have even switched ad providers. Please just try to be patient a little longer. They will come down with time I am sure.

Three months is way more the ample. The wheel ads should be long gone. Other hosting sites would have gotten to it within a week of being reported.

You do understand that ads are not controlled by Forumotion.  They use ad providers.  Yes, they use more than one ad provider.  All we can do is give the information to the ad providers.  We can not control how long it takes the ad providers to locate the ads and remove them.

I do, but I’ve seen way faster results with other hosting providers which was within a week (the best I've seen is the next day). For you folks, it has been 3+ months which is way over ample time and put the sites you host at risk, that someone will fall for a scam ad and get angry at you folks or the user(s) that are admins of one the forums that are being run through your folks servers.

That the whole reason I got the ad removal for the main site was to protect members and myself from the scam ads, since you folks are slow at dealing with the ads, protect against accidental unremovable URL blocks (once it’s in places nothing can remove it even if a fix/solution is found after the fact) and members getting angry at me for the scam ads that are appearing. At the time, I was forced into doing the ad removal there was no issue with the ads when logged out. However, now I'm seeing the scam ads when I'm logged out and that is extremely bad.

Edit: To make it even worse the nasty scam redirects are back again even more of an indication off you folk being a bad host and me making a huge mistake. As it is too late, to fight the ad-removal charges on the main forum since the protection is not working since the forum is still getting scam redirects, I will just have to put it down as a loss. I am still waiting on an update about the ad partner switch, the final check will be sometime Friday morning and if I'm still seeing wheel ads/scam redirects, I will be looking to move my forum off of here as soon as I can find a trustworthy host that can handle it. You will be listed as a bad host too after I move.

More scam ads! and only a day left for you folks. I might have a few candidates for the new host already just need to see if they can pass a few other requirements.

You also need to understand that forumotion does have other important tasks they have to attend to as well (like converting to https like they have been working on for 2 months). That can contribute to these delays.

The scam ads are a problem and the last returns have been taken into account. But it's quite difficult for us to block all the ads and verify if each campaign was removed or not.

This kind of ads is only present on inactive forums with 0 point of activity. On inactive forums, we can find all types of content (good, bad, adult...) and there is no moderation and many spams. It's really complicated to find a good ad partner with a high ad quality.

We are trying to do the best

Well, you folks have had more then ample time and I’m tired of excuses, 3+ month is ridiculous. I will be looking at other hosts in a few weeks so in a sense you will have extra time as it will also take me time test out other host candidates and move assuming I can find a host that works which will take time.

Though the proof I need from you folks is to get your ad partner to get rid of the wheel ads, the teal iPhone ad and, the mail Samsung that have been around since I’ve started or proof from the company the ads are about them are legit and a plan to replace the mobile ads in the next three weeks and make sure pop up are not scam pop up. As they have been known to attempt to download stuff onto my computer without my permission (Mack keep and Flash are the worst scam attempts at trying to trick me into downloading a Trojan/virus, I’ve seen those plenty to not be fooled. Though others might not recognize the Flash popups as scams and think it legit.) Luckily Mac are harder to force into downloading stuff behind the users back, however I’m sure a lot use window computers and that pop download can happen in the background in those cases and install nasty and harmful stuff. On top of that it like nearly impossible to get back to the site after a nasty redirect without closing the browser down on a smartphone.

The other thing about this is I’m starting to think is very odd is that it the newer ones vanish a lot quicker compared to the old batch since some are still around to this day. I’m suspecting it has something to do with the companies that the scam is targeting and them getting involved which results in those scam ads disappearing faster.

This seems to suggest that companies that are being targeted by the scams are the ones getting rid of them, this might explain why the old ones are still around. Though it still is not a good enough reason for me to stay if you can't get those scam ads under control.

Thanks for the last messages. We're removing this ad partner on a big part of the forums. We have to find a new mobile ad partner regarding the other part but 70% of the forums will be impacted with this change.

It will be effective in few hours, can you tell us tomorrow if it'sbetter for you?

One March 3rd 2017, 8:44 pm I posted (redoing it slightly) got deeper into the code and I think I spotted the stuff that should help you deeper into the coding. I really hope this work:

Not solved yet for the mobile side:

Added info: Though The search for a new more secure host is being put on hold for now due to real life stuff. So you will have a few extra months as it turns out. Probably will resume the search if you can’t prove yourself by the June- July time.

Old info:
One, I got redirected to a scam page earlier today and again a little later and it’s the same scam. Double Yuck! Reported here (To my annoyance as I was scrubbing my notes just to past the second version of the scam I bumped the first link. That what I mean by those being dangerous even for me. I’m not going to fall for them but taping the scam’s link can be highly dangerous too.

Two the first time saw the scam redirect today I also spotted both the Best buy scam and what I've been calling the gold visa scam.

I’m going to redo the ad scam reports one last time. I’m hoping that this one other thing may help fight these the icky scam banner ads. I will be looking at other more secure host that have faster reaction time, for bad ads. However, you do have some time left. I’m not sure, I can fully trust you folks now due how long it is taking to deal with bad ads and redirects. Plus both nasty ad issues still happen.

It seems that our login button has been hijacked - sometimes!

On one occasion, clicking the Login button resulted in the following worrying Windows Defender scam:



On another occasion, clicking Login resulted in a new instance of the web browser with adverts on a website.

It does not happen every time, but it is serious enough for Forumotion to check my forum's security.

So, this has been happening since last August and it has still not been fixed.
Not a very impressive display of Forumotion's concern over forum security, is it?

I am the administrator and co-founder of geeksgeeksmoregeeks.forumotion.net. I have not been on the forum since Dec 2016 because everyone has moved to social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc) so there is not much traffic there anymore. However, today when I clicked the Log in link on the menu bar, I got several popups and a voice telling me not to shut off my computer, I had a virus and to call a certain number. I know about this scam and just used the power button to shutdown, went into safe mode and restored my computer to an earlier time, ran a couple of malware scans just to be sure, and now here I am. What can you do at Forumotion.com to make my message board safe to register and log in again? Thanking you in advance for any help you can give.
