Hello there, I am Alexeivichi, and I am currently in charge of running a roleplaying forums known as "Mage Academy" and decided to grab my old account on the main forumotion site to ask for help on something very 'specific', at least to my understanding.

First off, I got the idea of making an interesting forum-based exploration 'point-and-click' topic, where the post would be the room of one of my characters, allowing anyone to come into the room of my character, explore it and would view drawn images and written descriptions of the various items and rooms. My first bet to accomplish this was to use 'spoilers' however I noticed as putting spoilers within spoilers, A.K.A Spoilerception, just caused the spoiler boxes to become diminutive in width. Given the enough of detail I'm willing to put into building this 'exploration topic' or 'thread', it was obvious this wasn't going to work.

My second guess would be to turn to learning HTML in order to create such a page, to basically build the page from scratch, however that would require a lot of work, as I want to keep the backgrounds of the site it is on while the user explores on the topic/thread.

My other guesses was to look up alternatives, such as flash or Java, but I have little to no experience with these. In order to save time, I decided to consult the forum full of experienced members and qualified staff members.

TL;DR
I kindly ask: What would be the best way to create such a 'point-and-click' descriptive exploration game on my forums and save a lot of time? HTML? Java? Flash? Help please.

I think the best tool for the job would be a flash application, but you'd run into compatibility issues with some users.

It would be possible to make what you suggest using HTML and Javascript, but the result would most likely be of far lesser quality than what you're picturing.

If you have experience of flash or no somebody that does, I'd suggest that, then integrating it into a HTML page in your forum, not a topic.

I've had some experience in the past, about almost a decade ago, using Flash to animate and such. Thanks for the reply by the way. I know what flash is capable of, and learning to code it once again would be nice. I don't see a very large amount of work to be done, compared to making a realtime game. Thankfully I'm trying to make a free-roam-styled visual novel.

One thing I'd like to know is if forumotion itself can host flash files(.swf) and if html can match up to flash player in terms of background displays and containing texts into boxes/dividers(I think the latter is what they're called) that scale based on the amount of text displayed on the pages.

If possible, I kindly request a link to a short guide on making an HTML page by default, or any suggestions and other links that would assist me.
Once again, thank you for the reply and assistance.
