I am glad to announce you the phase 3 on Forumotion for the purchase of SSL certificate set up. Now, every Forumotion forum without exception can purchase a SSL certificate and switch to HTTPS !

No matter if your forum his hosted on your main domains or not, or if you have a custom domain name or not: you will ALL be able to purchase a SSL certificate and have a secure URL in HTTPS.

Process to purchase a SSL certificate is the same. For more information, read our tutorial.

If you have any issue, don't hesitate to ask on the dedicated support section.

For anyone who does not have the SSL certificate section in their admin panel, you have an external domain name linked to the forum via a CNAME and for this reason you can not use SSL option.

Indeed, we can not install an SSL on an external domain that we do not manage.

Hello, I have a question. My domain name is currently a .forumotion one.
If I purchase a SSL certificate now for my .forumotion site will it still work, if at a later date I purchase a custom domain from an external provider? The forum would still be managed by forumotion, just have a external domain name which points to the forumotion one.

For external domains, even if it is redirected with CNAME, SSL certificates do not work only for domains purchased in the forum, but you can buy a certificate on the server where you are normally hosted.

If your profile is correct, your forum is secure.  I get the secure lock icon in my browser.

Did you buy your domain name from us using the ACP or did you buy the domain name from out side of forumotion.

I bought the domain name from out side of forumotion.

Thats why. We can't install an ssl certificate (https) on a domain name we dont own or control. We can only install https and ssl certificates on domain names bought through our service and that are controlled by our service.

Yes i can confirm That if you buy a domain name outside of FM then you have to buy the ssl certificate from them not us.

Now the problem is you have asked us to host your ssl certificate and we have took the money from your account.

now im not sure we can re credit your account but i will give @The godfather a tag in this and see what he can do as I know that the domain is not our domain.

In Note that (Enabling the SSL Certificate (HTTPS)) You don't say: only install https and ssl certificates on domain names bought through our service and that are controlled by our service.

Well the godfather did post about this earlier in this topic.

i hope you refund 500 Credit! I joined forumotion with ranbac.forumvi.com from 2010. 7 years!

I have sent a Email to the head office and we have not had any reply to it as of yet
As it's now the weekend no one will get back to me until at lease monday.

so as soon as I get news on what they will do then i can get back to you on the matter there is no point in making posts all over the forum about it i have told you i will make a Email and that is what i have done and it is pending.

for anyone else that Want to get a HTTPS address and have not got the domain from us then you need to talk to your Host of your Domain name we have no power over them. also make sure you read all the notes about the new system before spending your credits.
