New : SSL certificates are now available for Forumotion forums + Possibility to run forums in HTTPS
First topic message reminder :
Dear users,
As we announced few time ago, Google has decided to accelerate the transition to a more secure web by imposing the HTTPS standard. In order to allow your forums to follow this evolution, Forumotion has the pleasure to announce the setting up of a new option on its forums. You have now the possibility of passing your Forumotion forum in HTTPS. In addition to offering a secure web space to your members, your forum will display a "Secured" label on web browsers.
However, note that this option is still in Beta. Its evolution as well as its availability on the whole Forumotion service will be done in a progressive way.
In order to be able to place your forum in HTTPS, Forumotion has add a new option allowing the founder to order the installation and configuration of an SSL certificate on his forum. This is done from the administration panel> Misc > Spend credits> SSL Certificate:
The cost of installing and configuring the SSL certificate on the forum is 500 credits for a 12 month renewable period.
Note that passing your forum in HTTPS requires that all external resources (images, JavaScripts, CSS, ...) to be called in HTTPS. Otherwise, the forum will not be considered as secure by browsers.
Please note that giving Forumotion forums the possibility to order the installation and configuration of an SSL certificate is still in Beta version especially since it's a complex operation to be implemented technically on major services like Forumotion. Therefore, in order to guarantee the smooth functioning of this transition, the availability will be gradual :
Also note that once HTTPS is enabled on the forum, the "SSL Certificate" option disappears from the admin panel. Because the SSL certificate is closely related to the forum url on which it was installed and configured, the administrator will not be able to modify the forum url as long as the SSL certificate is valid. If necessary, the administrator can make a request to revoke his SSL certificate directly on the support forum.
This restrictive behavior is only adopted during the Beta phase of the SSL project. It will then evolve into greater flexibility once the process is thoroughly honed.
Hoping that this new option will brings you full satisfaction!
See you soon with other news on Forumotion
Regards
In order to give administrators more choice, new HTTPS protocol configuration options are now available.
The "SSL Certificate" part no longer disappears from the administration panel after the SSL certificate has been acquired. In addition to displaying the remaining lifetime for the forum certificate, it displays a new "HTTPS protocol configuration" block that allows the administrator to choose after the forum certificate activation if he wants to keep it in HTTP Or HTTPS.
These options also allow him to force the compatibility of the forum's core resources to the HTTPS or to switch to HTTPS, in a fully automated way, all the links of the basic resources on Forumotin as well as the most used services on the forums. So no more need to make manual link replacements for these services
Also, note that the "Enabling the SSL Certificate (HTTPS)" block in the "Credits management Summary" part now displays the expiration date of the SSL certificate of the forum:
Hoping these improvements will bring you full satisfaction

How to get secured HTTPS url in my forum ?
In order to be able to place your forum in HTTPS, Forumotion has add a new option allowing the founder to order the installation and configuration of an SSL certificate on his forum. This is done from the administration panel> Misc > Spend credits> SSL Certificate:
The cost of installing and configuring the SSL certificate on the forum is 500 credits for a 12 month renewable period.
Note that passing your forum in HTTPS requires that all external resources (images, JavaScripts, CSS, ...) to be called in HTTPS. Otherwise, the forum will not be considered as secure by browsers.
What are the conditions for my forum to switch to HTTPS?
Please note that giving Forumotion forums the possibility to order the installation and configuration of an SSL certificate is still in Beta version especially since it's a complex operation to be implemented technically on major services like Forumotion. Therefore, in order to guarantee the smooth functioning of this transition, the availability will be gradual :
- Phase 1: Transition to HTTPS will be possible only for forums located on the main Forumotion domains with a basic url without a custom domain name.
- SEE THE LIST OF CONCERNED MAJOR DOMAIN NAMES:
- actieforum.com
ahlamontada.com

- Phase 2: Transition to HTTPS will be possible for forums located on the main Forumotion domains and having a custom domain name acquired via Forumotion.
- Phase 3: Transition to HTTPS will be possible for all other forums.

Regards,
No never ! Your forumotion forums are completely secure. This is just a mention which appears on some browsers but this does not mean in any way that the forum suffers from security problems!
The Forumotion service is totally free and it will not change. This is an optional non-mandatory option. I remind you that Forumotion is not an SSL certification authority and that we are even obliged to purchase the certificates. We do not sell any certificates, the 500 credits you pay corresponds to a participation in the costs of installing, configuring, updating and renewing the forum certificate.

Re: New : SSL certificates are now available for Forumotion forums + Possibility to run forums in HTTPS
Is there any way to have the site secure? I just really don't understand this. I don't know how to get those certificate things to make it secure with the HTTPS.

You must pay 500 credits to get the SSL Certificate
All instructions to activate it are in the first message
Re: New : SSL certificates are now available for Forumotion forums + Possibility to run forums in HTTPS
So https will https be a universal change once out of beta mode ?
Because there's some users including me with browser types that has trouble.......cannot access many https sites.
Will https remain optional as long as can be ?

If your forum is one of the followingDeath Rules wrote:Is there any way to have the site secure? I just really don't understand this. I don't know how to get those certificate things to make it secure with the HTTPS.
Then you will have a setting added to your ACP where you will buy credits then spend 500 of them credits to pay for one year's worth of HTTPS address (This has to be done every year)actieforum.com

your forum will always be safe it's just a new way of making it more safe.
You will never be made to change from HTTP to HTTPS this will be your choice to make your forum what ever one you want it is 100% optional to all members when out of beta mode.VampireWicked wrote:So https will https be a universal change once out of beta mode ?

don't forget all browsers will have to support HTTPS sooner or later as you know it's only just come out so there will be some bugs along the way and not everyone wants t change over so the browsers will need to support all 3 WWW. HTTP and HTTPS.

@Anaya DeLaRose Did you buy the Domain name by the ACP or did you get the domain from outside of our system's ?
If you got the domain name from say Godaddy or others then we can not help you and your SLL certificate will not be added

Everything (images, coding, etc.) on your forum has to have a https link.
Also did you set the options after you purchased the SSL certificate?

The first thing I see is that your banner/logo image does not have a https link. If it does not have a https link, your forum will not be considered secure.Anaya DeLaRose wrote:@Ape i got everything on the forumotion system, both my personal domain and my SSL. but now for some reason my page still reads not secure. i just got my SSL and i just refreshed my domain for another year so both are up to date for another year
