Security Issues Empty Security Issues

Post by DSDU April 6th 2008, 4:12 pm

We've had some security issues recently so I've made my forum viewable to members only. I have just had a look at my Misc - Statistics and there is a Guest viewing the Calendar. How is that possible? Firstly, how is it possible as they are a guest and must log in to view the forum and secondly, how is it possible as I have disabled the calendar altogether?? I'm totally mystified. This is the info I got from the IP address. What does it mean?

go to:

Admin panel
Homepage
Nav links
click on Security Issues Editer on the far right

there you should be able to set the permissions to members only. If you can't you need to make a suggestion. If I am not mistaken, one has been made.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure why I can't click any of the boxes but it looks like that might be the problem. Any ideas about the IP address?

Security Issues Empty Help me please!!!

Post by DSDU April 7th 2008, 3:31 pm

I'd love if someone could help me with security of my forum. I have a guest (IP showing location in Japan - not my country) who is somehow viewing the forum when I have made it private? I'm not sure who they are or how they are doing this but I do not like it!!

I am glad I found this topic. I have found where it is that you can prevent non members from viewing member list.

Admin Panel
Users&groups
Special Rights (down near the bottom)

just check everything to members.

Yes, I've already checked all the relevant things there but my issue is that a Guest (location showing Japan) is viewing things that I have disabled such as the calendar. They are in there nightly and I don't like it! What can I do to keep them out? Short of changing the url....which I may do...
