New Accounts Activation Without Admin Approval

I've had 6 accounts activated without Admin approval in the last few weeks.

My forum is set up so that all new members must be approved by an Admin. The membership application form that we use has a few 'required fields' but these are never filled out on these non-admin activated accounts. Plus, we aren't getting the normal email we usually receive to alert admins that there is a new pending member (we get one titled 'New user registration' but not the other one, 'New user account ').

All of this started after I purchased the Premium package for my group. I doubt it has anything to do with it, but thought I would mention it anyway, just in case.

I would appreciate any help in stopping this from happening.

We are getting some strange members and I am worried that they will have time to spam the members or post questionable material before I even notice they are in the group. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not an admin here but I had the same problem with my forum. Do you have the Topic'it app enabled? If it's enabled people can automatically register and be accepted without approval. Go the Administration panel, Modules, Topic'it to check the settings.

As Jules said check the topic it settings. If that setting is set to automically activate accounts made in the app, that could be your problem.

That may very well be the problem! I have disabled it (I think) and will see what happens. Thank you so much for the quick responses, both of you were helpful.
