Deleting a profile contact field?

One of the fields I find in the contact section of user profiles is for AOL's AIM messenger, but AOL shut AIM down three or four years ago. Is there any way to actually delete it or is hiding it the only option?

Yeah you can freely hide it by :
- Turn off display in Profile and Messages
- Set see only for Administrators

Hiding it is the only option?

Yes or just remove the Icon from your

ACP >> Display >> Pictures and Colors >>     Pics management Advanced Mode...

Click the hide box then save this will remove the icon for the profile.

You can also turn them off by the following.

ACP >> Users & Groups >> Users >> Profiles >>  Contact fields tab >>

Click the yellow cog next to the one you want to turn off and then mark it as
