Problems with the Admin control panel

For some reason I am having major problems on the admin control panel.

I click on General and it simply relaods the main control panel page, after numerous attempts it finally takes me to general however 80% of the time no matter what I click i simply end up at the main control panel page this is making it nearly impossible to manage the forum.

Example when I try to create a new forum it takes me about 8 mins until I finally get to the forum creation page I fill in the details and click save and I am back at the main page no new forum, I rinse and repeat this about 5-10 times before the forum is finally created.

Any suggestions or advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone please offer some suggestion on this ?
