Code problem Empty Code problem

Post by Merlin333 October 6th 2008, 3:53 am

There is a problem that appears when entering code or code scripts into the forum area.

1.) HTML and BBC are enabled

2.) This has been tested in these browsers FireFox 3.03, IE7-8, Opera 9.5, Chrome and Safari and the problem is present in all.

3.) The problem exists when all virus and firewall protection is off

4.)The code has been entered alone, with the editor in the proper mode, with every tag available and the code is widely known to work properly - I.E. it is used by many poker forums.

5.) This happens with other code I have used - clocks, counters etc.

The problem is this. When the code is initially entered it works fine, then I get a PM from a member usually saying in effect "The hand player doesn't work" or "the hand player page is full of squiggles - whats wrong".

This code is designed for the member to paste a card hand within the box. This data consists of text information representing cards dealt to players playing poker. It reads the plain-text file and deals the cards to the players representing the actions of the players in the game. The problem succinctly put is that the forum plays the hands for a while then displays the code - the switch being random and for no reason apparent to me.

This is the code:

<object width="468px" height="355px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.pokerhandreplays.com/flash/TexasI.swf"></param><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /></param><param name="quality" value="high" /></param><param name="allowscriptAccess" value="always" /></param><param name="scale" value="Exactfit"></param><embed src="http://www.pokerhandreplays.com/flash/TexasI.swf" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" allowscriptAccess="always" scale="Exactfit" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="468px" height="355px"></embed></object>

Hey

Does it appear to happen at the same time every day or does it appear to be random points of the day?

Regards

well I just checked and the code is perfect, no problem there.

1. Is this also happening with you?
2. Are certain members getting it or does it not work for everyone?
3. Has this worked up to a certain point and then stopped working, say around the time of the update?

Boy that's a good one we didn't record the time!!!!

Various members reported the problem (don't know how proximate the report was to the viewing). Immediately after the report I went to the forum in every case but once I saw code instead of the widget. Each time I viewed the page with different browsers (IE7/8, FF2/3.03,Opera, Chrome,Safari) and each browser showed the same thing - code. This happened earlier with a clock widget - I thought it was the clock and changed it - the current clock has never had the problem. This typically happens with code in the forum. I have additional HTML pages that that have code and have never had a problem with them....?

This happened before the update.
Only a few members have reported the problem no frequency of the same members.

Thanks for checking hope the issue is found..

Normally at a certain time of night/day the forum backs itself up onto the forum utility, It does this everyday

I'm not sure if everyone's backs up at the same time however i managed to change mine from 3am to 10pm, Now this code be resetting the forum settings

Cant see much else that keeps doing it

Are you saying the backup does this, does this permanently or is this effect just seen during the time the forum is being backed up only?

How can the time be changed???

Thanks

I cant say that is the cause for sure however it is possible

1. Update the codes

2. Log into the Forum Utilities

3. Create a "Whole Backup"

4. Check the code again

If it has changed then the backups are effecting the codes, If not then something else is regularly resetting the codes

Regards
