guest sending pm's to my members......Help please[solved]
I received this message a few minutes in my pm box:
Inbox :: Message
Guest[Contact] hi - Today at 9:34 pm
Whats your name?
Email me: Edited by Skittles to remove email addy for security reasons

Sender email address: Edited by Skittles to remove email addy for security reasons
How is a non-member/guest able to send pm's. I have never had this before. I am in the middle of switching from a phpbb2 to invision. Did I miss checking something? I know people say that it is hard for the forums under formation to be hacked but is this what is happening? Do I need to be concerned?

Make sure that Guest is not a member on your forum. Then just ignore it.

This is getting serious. First of all, the admins aren't able to access there account because someone is changing their emails. Co-admin aren't able to moderate the main owner's account.
Also, the emails that are being changed someone relates to something. They are also hotmail (like what mine changed to). I believe there is a hacker.

Read what I posted on your thread: https://help.forumotion.com/other-problems-f46/important-t31268.htm
I did not experience what you are stating. Just someone pm-ing as a guest with the information that I posted and then they signed up for a membership.. I received 21 private messages that kept getting worse and worse. I don't understand how a non-member is able to send pm's but would like to know how to block them from being able to. I changed my forum back to a phpbb2 in the mean time. Till I know if it was from switching to invision. I have never had this until this change.

Re: guest sending pm's to my members......Help please[solved]
You have set up a contact form.
This is something like if you needed to talk to an Admin
Just like PM but in a different Set up. Don't worry this is just something a person did for the fun of it.

Re: guest sending pm's to my members......Help please[solved]
thanks
I went in and it was set to yes. I changed it to no. Do you think it is safe to go back to the invision format that I was working on transferring everything over to or should I wait for a few days?

Please do not post IP and email addy's in the open forum.
Posting clickable email addy's can draw in spambots to a forum....thus creating a security issue.
