Template Help Empty Template Help

Post by kiashamoose December 11th 2008, 6:30 am

Ok, I am trying to add a template to the forums as a homepage.

I need to add a stylesheet to this template so it will work properly. I can't put the stylesheet where im putting all the template codes in or else it will mess everything up. So how do i fix it so the style sheet works, but not in the same file as the HTML template?

Code:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

<head>
   <title>Strive - Free Template by ClanTemplates.com</title>
   <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />
   <meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css" />
   <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css" />

   <script type="text/javascript" src="prototype.js"></script>

</body>
</html>
Thats part of the HTML code. (Im not going to bother posting it ALL)
Code:

/**
 * Template: Strive
 * This copyright notice must stay intact for free use.
 *
 * Template copyright ClanTemplates.com
 * http://www.clantemplates.com
 * For quality free templates.
 *
 * @Designer: Subleme
 * @Coder: redSHIFT
 *
 * script.aculo.us javascript framework from http://www.script.aculo.us
 */

body
{
   background: #122530 url('./images/background.jpg') repeat-y;
   text-align: center;
   font: 12px Tahoma, Arial, Hevetica, Sans-serif;
}

a,a:visited

{

div#footer a
{
   display: block;
   height: 36px;
}

div#footer a span
{
   display: none;
}
This is the beginning. Then i took out most of the middle. and the end is there too.

That ones style.css

Did you deactivate the basic CSS of your forum?

If so, you need to add everything from it that it is missing to your additional CSS code.

Just copy it out an paste it were it belongs in.

I deactivated it. And i added the new images in the css stylesheet. But i mean, its only working for the forums/portal. No the homepage. Ok so i have the html thing, and i have it set to be my homepage. so i want the css to work as my homepage. not just my forum or portal. I want it to work on the template

As I said, if you deactivate it you have to type everything on your own.

Normally it should work everywhere on your site because you have only have one CSS sheet.

oh, BUT:

Did you add the style elements you want on your portal also into the CSS sheet?
