Clearing chatbox messages

I've just activated the chat box on my forum. I've typed in /clear to clear the messages but they don't seem to have been cleared? I read one of the 'chat box help' pages and a confirmation box is meant to show up saying that the messages have been cleared but I didn't get that box.

Is it just a temporary problem at the moment?

It can be a temporary problem. With that command, it should delete the messages.
Also try typing /cls That too is a command to delete the messages.

/clear and /cls have never worked in my forum, regardless of browser or skin used. I am not sure that most of the provided codes actually work apart from the logout.

Also I would like a command to clear the chat archives because with the lack of /cls & /clear any contentious message remains for ever - so I have to switch the chatbox off.

u need to add your self to the chat moderator
do this by going to admin panel> Modules> Chatbox> Then on side find the chatbox box and click on Moderators> type in your name and then try it.

Once you add your self try. If it doesn't work, Try and talk to Sanket. He helped fix mine a while back.

If you type in /clear this should help.

Thanks codegamer - it works now. The names don't appear in the list of moderators but that doesn't matter as you can check they are there by re-entering them

The only way you can remove them is using the /unmod command from the box input line though

*adds again - in fact it is only Admin names that don't appear on the list - but unless they are added invisibly they do not get the @ of power*

You have to be a chatmod (AKA have a @ symbol before your name in the chat) of the chatbox to clear messages

On the subject of clearing chatbox msgs..

...how far do the archives go back if left they're and not cleared for some time - how many lines etc.
