From a forum to a network

hey everyone just wondering if this is possible:

can we link many forums and blogs together so that we could have a network rather than just 1 forum???
and I don't mean making many webpages and putting links to each one to one- another....
So that like for e.g users don't have re-register but keep their same profile in each forum/ blog


If this is possible plz let me know how to do it...
