How do you login by using your email?

what if a user has a complex user name, is there another way to login by using your email?


just like myspace you have usernames but you use your email and password to log in is there a way to do that in my forum?

I'm afraid that's not possible. However, that's a pretty nice suggestion; you should suggest it.

you are saying that you must login with the right username? so if you use character map you still have to login with the exact copy?

but what if some of my users cant remeber their username?

If they can't remember their username, then that's where the process of clicking the 'Forgot Password?' text comes in. An email will be sent to that user with the information of their account: their username and password.
Other than that, you can just go to the admin panel and edit their account info.

Just be sure that your member that lost his/her password will be able to contact you outside of the forum (such as MSN, on another forum, etc.) because if they don't remember their username to regain access to your forum, then it's obvious that they aren't able to just login and PM you on your forum. ^.^
