Importing an Existing Forum

Hey guys! Will somebody be nice enough to assist me with my problem? ^^v

We have an existing InvisionFree Forum board that we have been planning to transfer under Phbb forumotion. Is there a way to transfer the posts, the users, and the customizations from one forum host to the next?

Also, do we need access to the forum FTP in order to do this? If so, what needs to be done?

What if I save my whole forum in my hard disc, access a new forum, then upload my forum using FTP? Will this be possible/

Also as another way, is it possible to transfer single threads to another forum?
