Internet Explorer issue Empty Internet Explorer issue

Post by pms solincia November 7th 2009, 2:24 pm

I'm not sure if anyone would know this, but my forums look GREAT in Firefox (which is my default browser), but the forum layout and icons look awful in Internet Explorer.

I know in the CSS code, there are fixes for some things in IE, but even some icons don't show up and the forums layout looks strange...

Is there a solution for this? Or should I just keep on recommending Firefox! (I have a forum section for that! ha ha)

Any help is appreciated! Thank you for your time.

I looked at your forum with IE6 and it looks pretty bad. I suggest you don't worry about it. I gave up trying to support IE6 a while ago. When someone using IE6 visits any of my forums, they will see the following message on the homepage (click "Enlarge this image" to see the message properly):

Internet Explorer issue Ie6msg

Note to forumotion staff: the above image was centered with [center][/center] BBCode tags. It appears there is a bug in the "enlarge image" feature -- the image is centered but the enlarge image link is not.

I use FF but most of my members use IE7 or 8. My forum will not display on Explorer.

What is the safest and least troublesome skin? I need to switch!!!

As Dion said, you're probably using Internet Explorer 6 which is completely incompatible with any modern web standard, stick to Firefox.

Internet Explorer issue Empty Forumotion Querks

Thanks for your reply.

I use IE8 but some of the members on our forum may be using IE6. It's impossible to tell.

Firefox is great but most of our members use Explorer.

It's hard to believe that forum designers would create a forum compatible with one browser. You would be limiting yourself.

I'm sure there is a technical solution to this problem.
