How can I disable right click for a forum post Empty How can I disable right click for a forum post

I noticed that a couple of forums are copy/pasting my recruitment ad to their forums without asking for my permission. Is their any java script code that will disable right click or highlighting text and work for a single post that I can edit in. Thanks

Create a transparent GIF of the same dimensions as the image you want to protect. Then, define the image in your widget as follows:

Code:
<img src="transparent GIF URL" style="background:url('protected image URL');">
In that way, right-clicking on the ad will give them the transparent image and not the image you want to protect. But remember that even if right-clicking is disabled, it's pretty easy to grab images from any site if one is intent on doing so.

well thats pretty cool. but there's just one thing wrong with that.
if they right click on the image and save as your saying it will just come up as a transparent image.. ok awesome. i like that.

But whats to say that they dont just hit quote and copy the whole post or images then go somewhere else to save them.. lol. Razz

You know what i had that was very efficient on my paid phpbb forum. we had someone form the phpbb suuport create us a refresh tag. so if a member or staff where to put this tag in a post if you tried to copy or right click something it would just keep refreshing the page.
and the good thing was that if staff needed to edit something or use the right click function for what ever they could still edit the tag out and do what they had to do. but the members could not. plus it was optional for it's use. if it was not in a post then it would be normal. if it was and you tried the right click funtion. it would refresh the page each time you tried it.

i have a requested a tag like this being made for forumotion a long time ago.. i guess we should suggest this again. it worked realy well on my paid forum.

The transparent trick is good enough to fool most of the people who want to steal images. This is very preferable to disabling right-clicks. People use the right-click context menu for much more than saving images, and disabling it is taking away functionality.

The fact is, nothing will keep someone who is intent on stealing images from stealing them. All they need is ****** (sorry thieves, I'm not going to tell you how to steal!), and with one LEFT click, a list of the URLs of every image on a web page will appear on the screen.

Hi,
I managed to disable right click some months ago, but now I want to re-enable it. How do I go about it?
I know that to disable it I had to insert code to the site description, so how do I access that to delete it?
Thanx
