Question about the search engine on forum

Is it only responding to english words or to words that actually exist or is it supposed to pick up everything written on the forum?

The search button doesn´t really work on my forum. I was thinking maybe it´s cause it´s not in english and we have a lot of threads that have a three letter combination at the beginning of the thread title (they´re all about one certain subject and we add the letters so it would be easier to find the topics but they don´t show up in search results at all).

Is there a way to edit the search option on the forum?
