Two Problems with my forum

Ok, I'll talk about the first problem.

Most time, on my forum (which I am creator of), when I try to post, I click on the posting box and the Bold, Underlined, Italic, and Strike buttons/options (don't really know what to call them) go Red and I can't type into the posting box.
It happens after all the smilies load.
If anyone could please help me here it would be be highly appreciated!

Second problem.
The posting limit on my forum is a very small character limit of 255.
I would be extremely happy if someone could help me here.

for the first question.
make sure your do not have your edit mode on. (the double A/A's)

for the second questing? you have to explain more.
there is a limit.But much more higher then that.
I believe forumotion has changed that to a default? but still way way higher then that.
At one time you used to be able to adjust it? you still might be able to(not sure)?
what version are you using?
