Categories and Forums disappeared on Homepage

Hello,

The categories and forums have suddenly disappeared from the homepage. One minute they were there, then vanished!! I've checked the categories and forums
under general, and I've checked configuration and still cann't get them back. The only thing displaying is the site title and message.

I've looked on here for a solution and not as yet been able to find one. I would be so grateful with your help in trying to restore them, as it's a support group for a rare neurological problem, I'm keen to have it back in full working order.
