Tryin' to replace smiley codes

I'm a new admin for my game's clan's forum. And i've found some cool smileys to replace a few of the default smileys. So I try to upload a new one, and use the same smiley code. And of course, it says I can't 'cuz there is already a smiley for that code.
Is there anyway to replace it? I've tried a different category. And that's not working...

Delete the original smiley first. Then add the new smiley.

If you don't want to delete.
Just change the code.
Even if you just add a number onto the current code.
So if you have a "smile" lready, but want to add your new smile.
Just put "smile2".

@Danno: I already tried this, but the original smiley list is somewhat hidden. Don't know why, don't know how.

@Zeb: Thanks for that, Zeb. That was originally my last resort, i guess I'll have to use that. A Mod can close this thread if s/he wants to.
